Marvin’s personal Endurance Moment:

In 2009, Marvin started an annual tradition of biking from Manila to the mountain city of Tagaytay (about a 120km round trip) to raise funds and pledges for the Cancer Warriors Foundation, a private group assisting kids with cancer.

In 2013, typhoon Haiyan raged through the Philippines, and Marvin and his friends called their project "Ride for Hope", and from 2013 to 2015 they were able to raise funding for the repair of a day care center and the purchase of several sewing machines for livelihood in a town in Aklan province in the Visayas.

After their relief efforts bore fruit, they refocused to help kids with cancer and from 2015 onwards “Ride for Hope” helped raise several thousand pesos for Bahay Aruga (House of Care), a halfway home for paediatric cancer patients. The last edition in 2017 was more personal, as a friend of theirs needed treatment for breast or bone cancer, and they pedalled almost 200km overnight from Manila to Bataan to raise funds for her treatment.

Thank you also to all other participants for taking part and sharing your endurance moments in this competition. Scroll through all entries here:
