Go on a virtual concert tour with DHL and the Gewandhausorchester

Be a roadie, musician or spectator

The Gewandhausorchester and the DHL team repurposed no fewer than ten locations as concert venues with the help of a show truck. At the push of a button, it was transformed from a delivery vehicle into a stage for the musicians. As soon as the familiar notes of Irving Berlin’s ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’ or George Frideric Handel’s ‘Arrival of the Queen of Sheba’ rang out, children and their parents took to the streets to get their jive on. After so many months of lockdown, such light-hearted camaraderie was a welcome relief. Following a 20-minute burst of concert classics, enthusiastic applause and at least one encore, it was straight on to the next location. It was an unforgettable experience for spectators, DHL roadies and musicians alike.

DHL is committed to utilizing innovative logistical solutions to bring the music of the Gewandhausorchester to people far and wide – on world tours as well as in Leipzig and the surrounding areas. As part of a regional project in spring and summer 2021, the Gewandhausorchester has already played in retirement homes and facilities for refugees. DHL played a vital role delivering these unforgettable moments to diverse communities, courtesy of the Gewandhausorchester. That’s what the series of pop-up concerts in September 2021 were all about – spreading joy and connecting people.
