Anti-Bullying Race Backed By DHL Denmark
A relay race requires co-operation, as does the fight against bullying.
That’s why The Mary Foundation, supported by Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary, began the Free from Bullying children’s relay race. This year’s race, held on June 14 in Copenhagen and June 21 in Arhus, had thousands of participants, with 1500 attending in Copenhagen alone.
“Bullying hurts. Bullying is something that we can say no to, and we can say that we will not accept it in our classrooms,” Princess Mary told Danish royal magazine, Billed Bladet about the initiative, which supports the "Fri for mobberis" anti-bullying education program used in kindergartens and schools across Denmark.
Open to children ages three to eight, the race is a one kilometer baton relay that emphasizes the cooperation needed in order to reach the finish line, where the Crown princess and the Free from Bullying mascot, Bamseven, or Buddy Bear, awaits them with medals.
Excited by the initiative and inspired by their own local relay race, DHL Denmark has got on board with their support for the race the last two years. It’s a great way to give back to the local community and support a unique socially responsible program.
