The icy showdown
The excitement is building when the IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships are held in Lake Placid, USA, from March 6 to 16, 2025. The best athletes in the world will meet on the traditional Olympic bobsleigh track Mount Van Hoevenberg to compete for the medals in thrilling races.
The focus is on the exceptional German pilots Johannes Lochner and Francesco Friedrich. Both have had a significant impact on bobsleighing in recent years and are involved in an exciting head-to-head race:
Francesco Friedrich
With 16 world championship titles and four Olympic victories, Friedrich is considered one of the most successful bobsleigh drivers of all time. He made history at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing when he won gold in both the two-man and four-man bobsleigh.
Johannes Lochner
The five-time world champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist has proven his strength several times this season. His form has been on a steep upward curve since two victories in the last World Cup in Lillehammer.
The preparation: three challenges
To get fans in the mood for the upcoming duel, we pitted the Lochner and Friedrich teams against each other in three special challenges.
- Packages Challenge: Here, the teams had to search for packages with letters in a DHL van and put them together to form meaningful words. A task that required speed and combination skills. Quiz: Who knows DHL & BSD better? In this knowledge competition, the teams competed against each other and answered questions about DHL, the BSD and bobsleighing. Who came out on top?
- Snow race: Who is better around the bends? A slalom course in the snow with the DHL E-Van put the drivers' driving skills to the test. Who mastered the course the fastest?

PostCast: Im Eiskanal mit Bob-Ass Johannes Lochner
In der Januar-Ausgabe hat das PostCast-Team mit dem Wintersport-Idol Johannes Lochner gesprochen. Im Interview verrät er, warum das Bobfahren im Wettkampf nur ein Prozent der gesamten Arbeit ist und was die restlichen 99 Prozent sind. Außerdem verrät er das ein oder andere Geheimnis hinter den Erfolgen. Seit Jahren unterstützen Deutsche Post und DHL den Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland.
Arjan Sissing, Leiter Global Brand Marketing, erklärt auch, wie das zur Marketingstrategie der DHL Group passt und wo der Konzern im Bereich Sponsoring noch aktiv ist.

Johannes Lochner plant mit Ex-Team Lochner Anschieber
Rechtzeitig zur neuen Saison wurde auf MDR die neue Dokumentation "Tunnelblick" ausgestrahlt. Regisseur und Produzent Mario Kottkamp (JAU!Media) und sein Team haben Johannes Lochner und Francesco Friedrich und ihre Anschieber über ein Jahr lang begleitet.
Dabei verrät Johannes Lochner exklusiv, dass er für die Olympia-Saison 2025/2026 möglicherweise mit Thorsten Margis – bisher als Anschieber im Team Friedrich aktiv – zusammenarbeiten könnte.
„Es könnte sein, dass sich bei uns im Team noch etwas verändert,“ erklärt Lochner. „Thorsten Margis ist vor der Saison auf mich zugekommen und hat gesagt: ‚Pass auf, nächstes Jahr bin ich topfit. Wenn ich die Chance habe, bei dir zu fahren, würdest du sie mir geben?‘ Da habe ich gesagt: klar. Wenn du es schaffst, auf den Olympiaschlitten zu kommen, wäre das eine großartige Aktion.“
Lochner fügt hinzu, dass er schon immer den Wunsch hatte, mit Margis im Schlitten zu sitzen: „Mit Thorsten zusammen wollte ich schon immer fahren. Aber er war ja bei Francesco, deshalb ging es nicht.“
Ob sich diese vielversprechende Konstellation tatsächlich realisiert, bleibt abzuwarten. Klar ist jedoch: Die Rivalität zwischen Lochner und Friedrich könnte damit eine neue Ebene erreichen.

Lochner heizt die Rivalität mit Friedrich erneut an
In der 49. Ausgabe der Sport Bild schießt Johannes Lochner abermals gegen Francesco Friedrich. „Francesco sagt, er habe einmal bei Georg nachgefragt“, sagt Lochner. „Ich habe es so gehört, dass er ihn die ganze Zeit genervt hat. Da steht Aussage gegen Aussage. Ich weiß, wie Francesco ist, und er kann schon sehr nervig sein, wenn er etwas will. Daher denke ich, dass es über ein normales Nachfragen hinausging."
