FORMULA E GOES ON THE ROAD
The Formula E Championship may be set to hit the downtown streets of 10 major cities around the world beginning in September next year, but it is already out on the road on a promotional tour, delivered by DHL.
DHL and the FIA Formula E Championship unveiled the world’s first fully-electric race car –the Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E car – at the International Motorshow in Frankfurt (IAA) on September 10. Although the races won’t start until just under a year from now, Formula E is already on a world tour to promote this partnership for a sustainable future and generate excitement for the new motorsport.
DHL will be delivering vehicles and equipment to the roadshow events, tests and conferences around the world featuring a DHL branded test car. The tour kicked off at DHL headquarters in Bonn, Germany in late September and from there it will travel to Italy, Monaco, Paris and Tokyo over the last few months of 2013. 2014 a number of test runs at events are planned in North and South America, Asia and Europe.
Both DHL and Formula E have a shared vision: to promote a sustainable future and accelerate research and development around e-mobility. Electric and hybrid technology plays a key role in DHL’s city logistics planning and the company continues to invest in this technology around the world. The company’s global sustainability program – GoGreen – aims to improve the carbon efficiency of its own operations as well as those of subcontractors by 30% compared to 2007 by the year 2020.
A spark is needed to bring electric mobility to life and to the people, showing them what the new future alternative drive system can achieve. DHL and Formula E are actively shaping the future of mobility and fostering both a pioneer spirit and cutting edge technology. The global roadshow will shine a spotlight on this new journey and hopefully excite the world.
