Reds Fans Travel Far and Wide for United Trophy Tour
One thing is clear: when Manchester United travels, the club’s fans are United! They come from far and wide to see their heroes. The United Trophy Tour, delivered by DHL, is no exception.
As the Barclays Premier League trophy makes its way around the globe, chaperoned by a legendary team of former United stars, Reds’ supporters are coming out in force – come rain or shine or miles of open road – no obstacle is too great.

Silverware meets Golden Pagoda
Take Pyimoeaung from Myanmar (see photo gallery above). This captain of Red Devils United Myanmar traveled over 300 miles from Magway to Yangon to meet former United striker Andrew Cole and get up close and personal with the trophy. Pyimoeaung favorite star is Wayne Rooney and despite living on the other side of the globe, he and friend Chitoonaing – a United fan since 1998 – stay up into the early hours each week to watch Manchester United. Chitoonaing loves to watch Shinji Kagawa live.
Cole and England’s most coveted silverware were stationed outside the stunning Shwedagon Pagoda, where the Barclays Premier League trophy still managed to attract a lot of attention despite the obvious allure of the towering 99-meter-high golden palace. United’s treble-winning striker didn’t go unnoticed either and he enjoyed chatting and posing for pictures with fans.
United ‘groupies’ in Vietnam don’t give up
When the United Tour hit Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam in late February, the local supporters didn’t have to travel far but they were certainly willing to go the distance. After meeting former Reds defender Gary Pallister at the city’s Municipal Theater, where the turnout was huge, the fans obviously didn’t want it to end, trailing the United party after the event like groupies through the city on scooters to the next stop, a private gathering hosted by DHL. Not giving up, United’s newest groupies even managed to sneak “backstage” and Reds’ Trophy Tour partner, DHL, couldn’t help but welcome the excited bunch in to enjoy the celebration.
Braving the cold in the Windy City
Frigid temperatures across the American Midwest definitely didn’t stop Bhoumesh Patel, who drove 800 miles from New Jersey to attend the event at Chicago’s Water Tower Place on February 11, which featured the traveling museum of Reds memorabilia, delivered by DHL. “This the greatest day of my life,” he said.
10-hours to New Delhi to see Dwight
In India, one family drove 10 hours – some 400 miles – in a rental car from Jalandhar on the India-Pakistan border to meet Dwight Yorke and see the Premier League trophy, even running the last mile to make the event on time after getting stuck in heavy city traffic! Kirandeep Kaur Dhaliwal (pictured in the photo gallery above), one of four, cried tears of joy when Dwight hugged her.

Mumbai or bust
The scene was similar two days later in Mumbai, where members of the official supporters’ club were among the many fans who came out to greet the United party on the streets. Four Reds from another supporters' club in Goa travelled for 12 hours by bus to meet Dwight and the trophy at the Megastore – an event that was absolutely electric with tons of fans and loads of singing – an incredible feeling!
DHL is proud to be a part of delivering Manchester United to the world.
