Manchester United returns sights to Europe

Following its winter hiatus, the UEFA Champions League is back in action. David Moyes’ squad is looking forward to its return to European football, where the boys from Old Trafford have enjoyed arguably their best form and results the season.

As Europe’s elite competition came out of hibernation this week, United’s players have just returned from a warm-weather training camp in the Middle East that coach Moyers says has boosted their confidence for the tournament’s first knockout round. A little fun in the sun appears to have soaked in and today’s victory over Crystal Palace is sure to give the team an added boost.

The Reds topped Group A in the group stage with an impressive 14 points from a possible 18 – yet another reason for self-confidence as they head to Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens on February 25 to face Greek powerhouse and current Superleague number one Olympiacos. The return match will be in Old Trafford on March 19.

Reds Legend Paddy Crerand believes international competition brings out the best in Moyes’ men. “The players have been excellent in Europe this season and David Moyes deserves a lot of credit for that,” he told Inside United. “Getting out of the group wasn't easy, but we passed with flying colors. Without dismissing the Greeks, the quarter-finals are well within reach. You never know what might happen from that point on. The club is experienced on the continent and anything can happen in this competition.”

Manchester United has a fantastic support in Greece – so along with Olympiacos terrific fan base, who really get behind their team, the stadium atmosphere should be nothing short of incredible.
