Starstruck fans go wild for United Trophy Tour
Manchester United’s worldwide Trophy Tour, delivered by DHL, is making a second trip around Asia over the next two weeks and fans are obviously wild about it!
After crisscrossing the United States, Reds Legend Bryan Robson handed the baton –the Barclays Premier League trophy – to fellow Legends Gary Pallister and Andy Cole who are taking the coveted silverware back through Asia to meet fans in Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, Myanmar and Malaysia.
The turnout was huge and after the event fans followed the United party through the city on scooters. Watch the Vietnam highlight reel here.
The tour, which is visiting 31 cities and 24 countries over five months, was already in the region late last year with stops in Jakarta, Taipei, Seoul, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Delhi and Mumbai.
Starstruck in Singapore
In Singapore on February 25, supporters came from far and wide to see ex-defender Gary Pallister and the silverware on Sentosa Island, where he signed autographs and posed for photos with hundreds of fans at a shopping mall. They also had the opportunity to view memorabilia from United's Old Trafford museum. Later at the Universal Studios theme park and the iconic Singapore Flyer big wheel, fans were starstruck in the presence of Pally and the Barclays Premier League trophy.
United 'groupies' in Vietnam
Next stop was Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam where Gary met with supporters, signed autographs and posed for photos at the Vietnamese cities Municipal Theater. The turnout was huge and fans obviously didn’t want it to end, following the United party after the event through the city on scooters to the next stop, a private gathering hosted by DHL. These “groupies” managed to sneak “backstage” and Reds’ Trophy Tour partner, DHL, couldn't help but welcome the excited bunch in to enjoy the celebration.
The Trophy Tour now moves on to Tokyo on March 1, followed by Yangon (Myanmar) on the 4th, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on the 7th, and back to Tokyo (Japan) on the 9th. Events thereafter are planned for Moscow (Russia), Istanbul (Turkey), Copenhagen (Denmark), Basel (Switzerland), Oslo (Norway). The remaining dates will be announced soon.
The traveling museum, delivered by DHL, will also be on display in Japan and Malaysia.
Manchester United are hosting an #IAMUNITED fan party with club legend Andy Cole in Tokyo in on March 8. There still time to apply for tickets here (until end of Friday February 28).
