Nicholas K Takes Milan with DHL Exported

The New York-based design duo behind the luxury womens’ label Nicholas K is off to Milan for their debut at Milan Fashion Week. With a show at Via Clerici, 5 at 20:30 on September 17, the siblings behind the fast-growing U.S. label (thanks to their designs appearing in the Hunger Games movies) are sure to excel in getting their feet on the ground in the notoriously fabulous Italian market.

Hot on the heels of the opening show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York Spring/Summer 2015 on September 4, Nicholas K is riding a wave of great publicity and rave reviews across the Atlantic. The show in Milan will be a first for the eleven-year-old company that uses fluid fabrics and utilitarian details to give new meaning to urban sportswear.

It’s the result of their winning the inaugural DHL Exported program, a program created in collaboration with IMG Fashion that helps up designers already established in their local market to expand their business on a global scale. Provided with slots for two consecutive seasons – for Nicholas K that means a spot at the womenswear shows at Milan Fashion Week on September 17 and again during Autumn/Winter 2016 – the program also includes export assistance and a shipping credit to ensure the collections get to the runway on time and in perfect condition. The program is helping the siblings see through goals to fruition.

“Winning doesn’t really alter our goals, it just pushes them forward faster. Obviously, you want to push your wholesale global if you’re in the luxury fashion business,” said Christopher Kunz, who together with his sister Nicholas are the founders of Nicholas K.

With less than two weeks to get the Spring/Summer 2015 collection from New York to Milan, the siblings relied on the expertise of DHL to get their unique garments onto the runway on time.
