DHL Exported: The Right Partners

Getting your start in any business is tough. Making your mark in the saturated world of fashion poses more problems than most. Beyond creativity and eye for good design, a designer won't make it far without a solid business plan and a strong team behind them.

That's why the DHL Exported Program was launched in 2014 -- to give four fashion labels with strong support at home the support they needed to take their designs abroad.

As one of four fashion brands chosen in the inaugural round of the DHL Exported program in 2014, the New York-based luxury womenswear designer Nicholas K has worked steadfastly over the last year to gain a foothold in the Milan market. The insights they've gained can help young designers everywhere, so check out the video above to see how DHL Exported has assisted them in getting a leg up in the Italian market.

As part of a panel at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York last fall, a group of Nicholas K label, which opened the Autumn/Winter 2015 collection Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on February 12, 2015 spoke alongside fashion experts including Gary Wassner of Hilldun Corporation and Jarrad Clark of IMG Fashion about the factors needed to gain success abroad.

Chief among their tips: surround yourself with the right partners. For more of their succinct advice to new designers, check out the video above.

Be sure to check back throughout the week as we prepare for another brand's entrance into the New York market when Milan-based designer Francesca Liberatore shows her Autumn/Winter 2015 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York on February 18, which you can livestream online starting at 4 p.m. EST. In the run-up to the show, we'll have exclusive videos and photos right here on DHL In Motion as well as on our social media channels so like us on Facebook, or follow us on InstagramPinterest, and Twitter.
