DHL Exported: Helping Designers Achieve Success Internationally

With more than 95% of the world's consumers residing outside of the United States, American designers need to understand the complexities they face when branching out abroad.

That's one of the reasons the DHL Exported Program was launched in 2014 -- to aid four designers in getting their feet on the ground in a new, unfamiliar market that would increase their sales. In a two-season partnership that began last July, DHL has worked with U.S. design team Nicholas K as they've broadened into the European fashion market.

"Your brand is only as good as your partners," said Christopher Kunz, one-half of the team behind Nicholas K. She joined experts including Karsten Aufgebauer of DHL, Gary Wassner of Hilldun Corporation and Jarrad Clark of IMG Fashion in a panel discussion to speak about the challenges designers face in going international.

Nicholas K is a prime example of the fast pace of the fashion industry. After showing their collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York today, the designers and their collection will jet to Milan to prepare to show their Autumn/Winter 2015 for Milan Fashion Week, a show scheduled for February 27, 2015 at Palazzo Clerici.

Before that, be sure to check back throughout this week as we prepare for another DHL Exported brand's entrance into the New York market when Milan-based designer Francesca Liberatore shows her Autumn/Winter 2015 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York on February 18. In the run-up to the show, we'll have exclusive videos and photos right here on DHL In Motion as well as on our social media channels so like us on Facebook, or follow us on InstagramPinterest, and Twitter.
