Exporting Fashion With DHL Exported

Love that new look from New York's runways? Good luck finding it in Shanghai or Sydney. Getting a new brand across borders isn't as easy for designers as you might think. The favorites you see out on display at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York at the moment may not be made available to you next season if you're not in the right place at the right time.

In a fast-paced global world, that's something that DHL is working with a number of fashion labels to fix. With a turnaround time between collections of four months -- only the first two of which can make or break a designer's seasonal sales -- getting these designs off the runway and into stores tout suite is vital.

With DHL's inside knowledge of the customs processes worldwide, we've been working with fashion labels to ensure those fabulous looks can be the focus of street styles the world over.

Karsten Aufgebauer of DHL Express Americas sat down as part of a panel at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York last fall with a group of experts, including the team behind Nicholas K, to discuss the business of fashion exporting.

As one of four fashion brands chosen in the inaugural round of the DHL Exported program in 2014, Nicholas K has worked steadfastly over the last year to gain a foothold in the Milan market. The insights they've gained can help young designers everywhere, so check out the video above to see how DHL Exported has assisted them in getting a leg up in the Italian market.

And be sure to check back throughout the week as we prepare for another brand's entrance into the New York market when Milan-based designer Francesca Liberatore shows her Autumn/Winter 2015 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York on February 18. In the run-up to the show, we'll have exclusive videos and photos right here on DHL In Motion as well as on our social media channels so like us onFacebook, or follow us on InstagramPinterest, and Twitter.
