One year to go and we’re already getting just a little bit excited! Aren’t you?

September 18 marked exactly one year to go until Rugby World Cup 2015. It all kicks off with host nation England facing Fiji at Twickenham Stadium in London! Three years after the enormously successful Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand, the excitement is building, and there is much to be excited about.

As many of you know, DHL’s association with rugby goes back to our earliest days and we are certainly no strangers to supporting high-profile international competitions. One thing that makes Rugby World Cup 2015 so special is that it is a global stage on which we can showcase our talent to the world. For six weeks next fall, the epicenter of world Rugby will be in England as 20 national teams will gather to fight for the sport’s highest honor, and we have the honor of supporting them from the sidelines by handling the Tournament’s all-important logistics. We simply can’t wait, and we’re making preparations now to ensure we make the most of the Tournament one year from now.

World’s largest scrum
Tickets went on sale to the public between September 12 and 29. England Rugby 2015 marked the occasion with the world’s largest scrum. The Guinness World Record-setting feat saw 1,008 people from around England take part at Twickenham Stadium. Also among the participants, who beat the previous record of 946, were Rugby World Cup winners Piri Weepu, Lawrence Dallaglio and Will Greenwood, Wales head coach Warren Gatland, and other former players.

International Trophy Tour goes south
The Rugby World Cup International Trophy Tour hit South America today for stops in Argentina (starting October 8) and Uruguay (starting October 10). The next two installments of our Rugby vs The World competition will be also held, with Rugby taking on Polo in Argentina and Basketball in Uruguay. We’re looking forward to showing you all the video and photo highlights on Facebook, TwitterInMotion and YouTube.
