One year from today, the inaugural season of the FIA Formula E Championship will make its maiden journey to Germany’s historic capital city.

On May 30, 2015, the city of Berlin will write history once again as it hosts Round 9 of the FIA Formula E Championship. As one of Europe's most cultural destinations and home to thousands of writers, musicians and artists, the city is a modern day creative hub. Every building or street has a story to tell. At this time next year, the German capital will have another story to tell. The charm of Berlin has attracted many over the years and it will make a unique destination on the Formula E calendar.

Announced on July 11, 2013, the side the city’s iconic Brandenburg Gate, Berlin was the third European city to join the series alongside London and Rome, playiong host to the new championship’s penultimate race.

The Berlin Street Circuit is currently scheduled to be built on the apron of the city’s celebrated Tempelhof Airport. An architectural marvel, the airport plays host to numerous events throughout the year. But it’s most famous event took place many years past when Tempelhof was part of one of the greatest feats in aviation history: the Berlin Airlift.

Although it won’t top this significant moment in European and German history, Formula E is certain to write itself into history at  this historic place.

Berlin – and Germany for that matter – is leading the way in Europe for innovation and sustainable mobility. The city boasts more than 1200 electric vehicles and over 220 public charging points. An ideal venue for Formula E.

Germany is also the headquarters of DHL. With more than 11,500 climate-friendly vehicles on the streets around the world today, we, too, are leading the way in green logistics. And we’ll be proud to help Formula E write another chapter in its young life yet again when it arrives on the streets of Berlin.
