Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul wrapped its Spring/Summer 2015 collection shows earlier this month after five whirlwind days at Antrepo 3.

Though still in its infancy, the fourth season of Turkey's largest Fashion Week event has come a long way, with more than 40 designers showing to buyers and press from around the world, including Lebanon, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the USA.

Aimed at supporting local design talent, the week featured a number of big names in the Istanbul design scene while attracting celebrities from across the Middle East. It's an ideal connecting point for buyers interested in getting closer to the country's amazing textile and apparel industry and a great stepping stone for the country's young designers.

Hakaan Yildirim found that out himself recently, when the womenswear designer decided to take his collection to the runways of London after winning the DHL Exported competition. With a much-loved flagship store in Istanbul's upscale Galata district already earning loads of attention, the designer launched his H by Hakan line for audiences at London Fashion Week last month as he attempts to take his brand further abroad. Hakaan is an inspiration to other designers in his native Turkey and a great example of the talents on display at Fashion Week in Istanbul.
