In Process -- Tokyo DHL Designer Award
Up-and-coming design label In Process by Hall Ohara received the DHL Designer Award last week at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo.
Showing at Tokyo Fashion Week since Autumn/winter 2010/11, the design team of Central Saint Martins graduates Steven Hall and Yurika Ohara won the award shortly after debuting their Spring/Summer 2015 collection on the runways. Their English-Japanese aesthetic was in full display with this latest womenswear collection that brought new life to traditional tailored basics by using vibrantly patterned textiles. As they said, the designers are interested in, "Capturing the energy of a garment that is in the process of being made."
Chosen for the DHL Desinger Award from the 48 brands showing at Tokyo Fashion Week, the brand has already gained attention overseas, making the label ripe for expansion abroad. It's with this expansion in mind that the designer award is given.
Handed out for the seventh consecutive season, the award includes a shipping credit and advice from an exportation expert to help the designers get their feet on the ground in a new market outside Japan. Previous winners include Dressed/Undressed and A Degree Fahrenheit, who've gone on to see great success abroad.
