The United Trophy Tour, Delivered to the World by DHL, travelled through the Middle East and India in January and enthusiastic fans came from near and far a once-in-a-lifetime moment with the Barclays Premier League trophy and a United Legend.

Manchester United’s five-month world tour with the Barclay Premier League trophy hit the road again in January with stops in the Middle East and India. This leg saw United Legend Dwight Yorke chaperone the coveted silverware through Doha, Qatar (16th), New Delhi, India (18th), Mumbai, India (20th), Dubai, UAE (21st), and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (23rd).

Check out this short video and relive the memorable moments of the United Trophy Tour in Mumbai.

Reds fans and both DHL customers and employees alike got a unique opportunity to rub elbows with the treble-winning striker and have their photo taken with the trophy. Red-clad United supporters came out in force in each city – yet another demonstration of the Club’s unbelievable global fan base, estimated to be over 300 million.

A 10-hour drive to see Dwight
“United is in my blood,” said one fan in outside the Manchester United megastore in New Delhi. “It’s something I wake up with every morning and sleep with every night. Manchester United means everything to me.”

That about sums up the electricity and enthusiasm Dwight received as he took the trophy from city to city. It’s no wonder that the turn-out for the New Delhi and Mumbai legs of the Club’s Trophy Tour, delivered by DHL, was so impressive. If you’re a Manchester United fan in India, it’s not often that you get to meet a legendary player and see the trophy that the Reds have won a record 20 times.

One family drove 10 hours – some 400 miles – in a rental car from Jalandhar on the India-Pakistan border to meet Yorke and see the Premier League Trophy, running the last mile to make the event on time after getting stuck in heavy city traffic. Kirandeep Kaur Dhaliwal, one of four, cried tears of joy when Dwight hugged her. Now that's what we call true fans!

The United Legend topped off the day’s events with a personal visit to the home of a man he calls “one of United’s craziest fans.”

The scene was similar two days later in Mumbai, where members of the official supporters’ club were among the many fans who came out to greet the United party on the streets. Four Reds from another supporters' club in Goa travelled for 12 hours on a bus to meet Dwight and the trophy at the Megastore – an event that was absolutely electric with tons of fans, loads of singing and a phenomenal atmosphere.

In Dubai on the 21st, Dwight met DHL customer Andrew Calthorpe who has supported Manchester United all of his life. Talk about bleeding red – although Andrew is based in Dubai, he flies home for all the home matches and hasn’t missed on in three years!

Yorke took the league silverware to meet fans at Dubai’s imposing Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, posing for photos both at the bottom and top of the 830-foot skyscraper.

The tour, which will have travelled 67,000 miles to more than 30 cities by the time it finishes later this year, now takes a two-week break before heading to the USA.
