2020 Marrakesh E-Prix

Antonio Felix da Costa, DS TECHEETAH

Antonio Felix da Costa clinched his first victory of the 2019-20 season in a challenging Marrakesh E-Prix. Having started from pole, he had to ward off a challenge from Maximilian Günther that extended over many laps, before he gained the upper hand over Günther in the final stage of the race. Unsurprisingly, he was the fans’ choice for DHL Driver of the Day. The victory also took the Portuguese driver to the top of the championship table on 67 points.

“I’m super, super happy with that pole position and race win today, it was amazing,” said a jubilant da Costa. “We are definitely on a run. I’m even more happy how the whole team is reacting to various situations and how hungry everyone is to win.”

2020 Antofagasta Minerals Santiago E-Prix

Max Günther, BMW i Andretti Motorsport

Maiden Formula E win for Max Günther! In only his third race as a BMW works driver, Günther managed to keep battery temperatures perfectly under control in a demanding Santiago E-Prix and with just three turns to go before the finish line, shot past Antonio Felix da Costa, who had been in the lead up until that point. The gap between the two was 2.067 seconds at the checkered flag. 22-year-old Günther has now entered the record books by becoming the youngest driver ever to win a Formula E race. Fans also voted him DHL Driver of the Day.

“It was a tough fight right to the very end,” said a delighted Günther. “I’m really pleased to have taken my maiden win. Battery management was hugely challenging over the final stages, but we succeeded. It was a tremendous race. I fought three other drivers hard for the win, going wheel-to-wheel.”
