DHL Exported: H by Hakaan Yildirim at LFW

Soon to wrap, London Fashion Week seems to be saving the best for last, with Turkish designer Hakaan Yildirim debuting his H by Hakaan Yildirim Autumn/Winter 2015 line at 5:30 p.m. GMT.

The collection, inspired by the melancholy and decadence of the movie Grey Gardens, a story of a mother-daughter pair desperate to escape their middle-class status. The clothes, with sharp and cuts and well-dened shapes that emphasize waistlines inspired Yildirim in his designs. As he described it:

A touch of feminine sexiness and masculine comfort. Wool, silk and velvet. Leather and fur. Prints and colours such as black, green, red, light cream and a barely-there beige. Metallic hair and accessories.

It sounds like quite a departure from the bumblee-bee inspired collection shown at Spring/Summer 2015, when the H by Hakaan Yildirim line made its debut at London Fashion Week thanks to the DHL Exported Program (shown in its entirety in the video above).

An unprecedented program that combines the global marketing platform of the most impactful fashion week events with DHL’s unsurpassed logistics capabilities, the DHL Exported Program was created in 2014 by DHL in collaboration with IMG. The program is for fashion designers established in their local market looking to further expand their brand across international borders, as it assists designers in streamlining their internal logistics while growing their businesses internationally.

It's what brought Yildirim to the runways in the U.K. and before this final showing under the DHL Exported Program, both Yildirim and Henry Holland of House of Holland were celebrated in London for their great achievements as two of the first four designers to take part in the program.

Designers from around the globe submitted applications to expand their businesses to one of four key retail markets with an export development strategy that includes shipping and logistics assistance, marketing and public relations support, along with an enhanced social and digital platform. In addition, DHL Exported provides a venue and production costs for designers to debut their collections on-schedule for two consecutive seasons at one of the following trade events: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week or Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo.
