Match Ball Delivery: Anish Raul

Meet Anish Raul from Mumbai, who will deliver the match ball onto the field for the second Rugby World Cup Quarter-Final on Saturday October 19.

11-year-old Anish only started playing rugby this year, when he attended an introductory training session hosted by DHL that featured the captains of the Indian national men’s and women’s teams.

It was a day that will live long in Anish’s memory. As well as developing a newfound love for rugby – particularly the tackling and teamwork – it was at this event that he was chosen to be India’s Match Ball Delivery representative, a moment that he will never forget.

DHL’s global Match Ball Delivery program has given 48 lucky children the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to deliver the official match ball onto the field at a Rugby World Cup 2019™ match.

Get to know more about Anish ahead of Rugby World Cup 2019 and watch out for his journey on DHL Rugby social media (TwitterInstagram and Facebook) during the tournament.

1. What’s your favorite position?

I love playing Hooker as they play an important role in the team and I enjoy throwing the ball in at the lineout.

My favorite player is Codie Taylor from New Zealand.  He plays in my favorite position (Hooker) for the All Blacks and his speed is amazing – I love watching him play.

New Zealand – I think they’re the best in the world.
