Good Samaritans Save the Day

After finding three tickets to the Ireland vs France game on Sunday in Cardiff, a quick-witted Irish couple takes advantage of DHL’s clapper banners to locate the rightful owners.

At Rugby World Cup 2015, Irish support for their boys in green has been extraordinary – at each of the pool matches to date you’d almost swear you were at Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Outside Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday was no different. It was literally a sea of green as masses of Irish fans prepared for a crucial matchup that would determine the winner of Pool D

Worst nightmare
So what’s the worst thing that can happen to you while heading into a big Rugby World Cup game like this one? You lose your tickets.

That’s exactly what happened to three Irish fans on Sunday.

Lucky for them the sea of green included two Good Samarians.

John Cullinan and his girlfriend Rachel Kelly found the tickets lying on the ground outside the stadium. The ticket owners’ names were on the tickets, but the question was how to find them in an ocean of Irish fans? The couple quickly saw the answer.

DHL to the rescue
Grabbing one of the thousands of free clapper banners DHL was handing out to fans, John and Rachel wrote the owner’s name on it and held it up above the crowd.

The owners eventually spotted the banner and reclaimed their tickets from the couple.

It’s safe to say Ireland’s reputation for having some of the best fans in the world just got a boost.

Rightful reward
DHL delivered well over 400,000 tickets to Rugby World Cup 2015 and we pride ourselves on our ability to manage the logistics of such an enormous operation. But it’s also nice to know that there are other ways DHL can help ensure that the tickets get safely to fans!

We salute John and Rachel for this act of kindness – and to thank them for their ‘fair play’ we’ve given the couple tickets to Ireland’s quarter final match against Argentina this weekend.

Thanks again and have fun guys!
