Credit where credit is due
As a global logistics leader, our business has a great impact on global trade and industry. As the Official Logistics Partner of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, we’d like to celebrate and recognize the efforts of those players that make a great impact on the sevens pitch.
The DHL Impact Player Award will be awarded to the players whose performances have made the most telling impact on matches at each Tournament and throughout the entire 2015-16 Series.
How does it work?
Based on data provided by the DHL Performance Tracker, one point will be awarded to a player each time they successfully complete any of the following actions during a match:
Tackles – when a player legally brings an opposition player with the ball to the ground
Offloads - when a player releases a pass whilst one or more of the opposition team are in the process of attempting to tackle them
Carries – when a player carries the ball forwards for a distance of more than 3 metres
Line-breaks – when a player penetrates the opposition defensive line
Tournament winner
The player with the highest points score at each tournament will be named the DHL Impact Player Award winner. In the event of a tie, the Strike Rate and Tries Scored will be taken in to account. The strike rate indicates their average score per match over the course of the Series.
Series Winner
The player with the highest Strike Rate at the end of the Series will be named the 2015-16 DHL Impact Player Award winner. To be eligible for the Series award, players must compete in a minimum of four tournaments.
