DPDHL and Project 1 wrap successful Porsche Cup season
From individual driver and rookie awards to strong performances in the team categories, Project 1 racing had a great season on the Porsche Cup racing circuits. Deutsche Post and DHL were along for the entire ride!
It was without a doubt a special occasion: not only was the recent race in Austin, Texas the season finale of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, but it was also the only non-European race of the season. With the stakes high, DHL-sponsored Project 1 driver Philipp Eng did not disappoint. He finished third in Austin, securing fifth place in the overall Supercup standings.
“All together, you can say that it was a satisfactory end to the 2014 season,” Eng said after the race. “Special thanks to the whole team for this season!”
The rest of the team certainly had reason to celebrate. The DHL by Project 1 team finished third overall in the team standings, and newcomer Sven Müller was second in the season-ending Rookie of the Year ranking.
“2014 has exceeded my expectations,” said the 22-year-old German. “It was a great year and I am looking forward to next year with all the new challenges waiting for me.”

In domestic competition in Germany, the Deutsche Post-sponsored Project 1 team in the Carerra Cup fared even better. In that competition, Sven Müller was far and away the best rookie, earning Rookie of the Year honors by over 140 points compared to the next-closest newcomer. Müller’s lead was so large he had the honor wrapped up with two races to go until the end of the season.
The Deutsche Post by Project 1 team finished in second place in the overall Carerra Cup rankings by just a single point, propelled in large part by the performance of Philipp Eng. At the final race in the Carerra Cup at the Hockenheim Ring, Eng wrapped up his first-ever driver’s title.
“I can understand it now, what people sometimes say after big successes: I can’t believe it!” he said.
Project 1’s pursuit of Porsche Cup titles will be back again in 2015, and Deutsche Post (Carerra Cup) and DHL (Supercup) will both be back as proud sponsors. We can’t wait to see what Philipp, Sven, and the rest of Project 1 are capable of next season! For more on the world of DHL and motorsports, keep your eyes on the DHL InMotion motorsports feed.
