Bringing Mahler to Ljubljana
The Gewandhaus Orchestra's whirlwind European Tour 2013 continues Mahler Music Week with a two-day stopover in Ljubljana.
The second stop-over on the European Tour 2013 sees Gewandhaus Orchestra as featured guests at the 61st annual Ljubljana Festival. Under the conduction of Maestro Ricardo Chailly, the orchestra will perform two unique works from Mahler's 9th Symphony on August 28 and 29. Arriving directly on the heels of a one-night-only affair in Mahler's summer residence in Toblach, Italy, the traveling players will be showcasing not only their versatility with the composer's repertoire, but also their adaptability to the changing conditions they're faced with while on tour. While back-to-back performances are not new for the traveling players, the tight turnarounds do pose unusual challenges.
That's why Gewandhaus Orchestra relies on DHL as the Official Logistics Partner. Skilled in fast and secure deliveries.
Given the value and delicacy of the instruments, DHL’s services are perfectly harmonized with the orchestra’s needs, from 24/7 live-tracking via the Internet to fine-tuned temperature control during transport and a special air-suspension trailer to ensure glitch-free handling. The duo of DHL drivers in the cab of the truck have substantial experience between them in transporting orchestral equipment. That not only optimizes transit times between concert halls on the tour, but also raises the score on security. DHL’s dedicated delivery makes sure the Gewandhaus Orchestra doesn’t miss a beat. Come the evening of August 29, the logistics team behind the Gewandhaus tours will be back on the road, helping bring the sounds of Mahler and Beethoven to the Salzburg Festival. For the European Tour, this transport has been carbon offset using the GoGreen service, which means bringing Mahler to the world has become that much more earth-friendly.
