REDS HEAD STATESIDE AGAIN IN SUMMER 2015

Manchester United has announced the schedule for the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, with the boys from Old Trafford traveling Seattle, Santa Clara and Chicago to face Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Club America and San Jose Earthquakes in the International Champions Cup.

This summer in July, Manchester United will again tour the United States to prepare for the 2015/16 season and take part in the International Champions Cup, a tournament that United won during last summer’s tour of the US. Tour 2015, presented by Aon, will see the team play four matches against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Club America and the San Jose Earthquakes.

Four matches, four cities
The tour starts on Friday July 17 with a match against Mexico City-based Club America at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field. On Tuesday July 21, United will then play local the San Jose Earthquakes, a local Major League Soccer team that United legend George Best famously played for in the 1980s. The venue for this match will be announced in the coming weeks.

The third fixture of the tour on Saturday July 25 will see United face Barcelona at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium, a brand new venue that was only opened in July 2014.

Tour 2015 concludes with a match against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday July 29 at Chicago’s famous Soldier Field. The club and the city go way back — United’s first visit to Chicago was in the summer of 1950. And the team has been making memorable moments in the United States ever since. Tour 2015, presented by Aon, should be no different, allowing the team to train at some of the world’s best facilities and take the pitch in first-class stadiums filled with thousands of passionate US fans.

Popularity rising
The club is excited about its return, especially after the recent Manchester derby became the most-watched Premier League match in US cable television history. The sport of soccer is more popular on that side of the big pond than ever before.

This year’s International Champions Cup will be decided via a league format with each team playing four matches and the club with the most points at the end of the tournament will be crowned champions.

Tickets for the matches will go on pre-sale on May 4, 2015, with the general sale beginning on May 7, 2015. For more information on Tour 2015, presented by Aon, including how to register for tickets, visit www.manutd.com/tour2015.
