DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award: 2015 FORMULA 1 GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Kimi Räikkönen has triple cause for celebration: The 2015 FORMULA 1 GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX saw the 2007 world champion claim his first podium of the season, the DHL Fastest Lap and the fastest pit stop of the race.

In Bahrain, Ferrari proved to be masters of speed not only on the track, but also in the pit lane. The four fastest pit stops of the race were performed by the pit crew from Maranello. With a stationary time of just 2.32 seconds, Ferrari dispatched the Finn on his way to second place faster than any other driver in the race. Not far behind, however, were the two stops for Sebastian Vettel and the second stop for Raikkonen, all completed within two and a half seconds.

Just how close the competition is among pit crews is shown by the stats for all teams, with no fewer than nine stops being completed by the mechanics within the magical three-second mark. In the overall standings of the 2015 DHL Pit Stop Challenge, Ferrari have a clear lead with three fastest pit stops in four races. They have now posted the fastest pit stop for three races in a row, missing out only in the season opener in Australia where the Force India pit crew of Nico Hülkenberg was faster than the competition.

Formula 1 now takes a three-week break. The next race is on the weekend of 8th - 10th May is the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA PIRELLI 2015 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Enough time for the teams to have to put in some pit stop practice at their factory facilities and to shave more time off their already speedy tire changes.
