DHL Fastest Lap Award: 2015 FORMULA 1 CHINESE GRAND PRIX
Things are back on an even keel once again as far as Mercedes is concerned: The Silver Arrows secured a one-two win in the third fixture of the season. Race winner Lewis Hamilton also recorded the fastest lap.
The world champion began the race in pole position, going straight into the lead right at the start. Only after his pit stop did he relinquish the top spot briefly for a total of three laps. The British driver posted the fastest lap of the race running soft tyres on Lap 31 just before coming in for his final change of tyres.
"A few of the real good fun laps were the laps before the pit stop, which I really enjoyed," said Hamilton. His fastest lap of 1:42.208 minutes was 0.357 seconds faster than the one set by team-mate Nico Rosberg. The runner-up secured his time on Lap 39. The majority of the field switched to medium tyres for the final stint of the race. Most drivers achieved their fastest times between Laps 34 and 46 as a result of cars getting lighter and an improvement in conditions out on track.
The fourth race weekend of the season will be staged on the weekend of April 17th-19th with the 2015 FORMULA 1 GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX at the Bahrain International Circuit.
