DHL Exported London Winner: H by Hakan

Preparations are in full swing for London Fashion Week in September, and for Hakan Yildirim, one of four winners of the inaugural DHL Exported program, it's an exciting time. His show will be closing a week of activity at one of the biggest fashion events of the year, and all eyes will be on his collection as he presents the new H by Hakan line at the BFC Courtyard Show Space.

Yildirim has made quite the name for himself since winning the first prize in the Young Fashion Designers Contest hosted by the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters Association in 1998. A man of many hats, Yildirim worked as creative director at various textile companies before launching his eponymous label to create couture dresses in 2001. His success in Turkey, where a flagship store in Istanbul's Galata district sells his collection, expanded overseas in 2010, when he launched the brand HAKAAN.

With the goal of expanding even further, both across the European continent and to New York, Yildirim applied for the DHL Exported program. The program assists well-established designers as they branch out in a new market by giving them runway slots at Fashion Week events for two consecutive seasons and assistance with the shipping and export process that makes that global expansion possible.
