Great is in the Detail, Episodes 10-12
Episodes 10-12 dive into two of the show’s unique acts – The Water Bowl and The Palm Balancing Act – while the third tells the fascinating story of the show’s over 1,000 costumes, including how some are made to stay looking perfect throughout an underwater performance.
In Episode 10, we take you beneath the surface of The Water Bowl – a breathtaking act in which the artist performs in a giant bowl of water, discovering her own physicality and expressing her sexuality as she executes a challenging hand-balancing routine. You’ll also learn more about the water bowl itself – how it’s constructed and how it’s set up.
In Episode 11, we enter the realm of the Balance Goddess. The Balance Goddess creates a world in equilibrium with a structure made of thirteen palm leaf ribs. The routine is carried out to a soundtrack of the sound of her breathing. Her movements are slow and almost meditative as she concentrates all her attention on building this structure.
In Episode 12, we explore the dazzling and durable costumes in Amaluna – talking with the show’s Head of Wardrobe, Larry Edwards. The show’s over 1,000 costumes – all unique to Amaluna – and make up are intricate but also designed to be practical to endure the stress of the high-flying performances.
