ULTIMATE FANS WIN ULTIMATE PRIZE

Imagine you’ve travelled to Rugby World Cup 2015 but you don’t have tickets. You simply want to share this historic moment with other rugby fans, soak up the game-day atmosphere and have some fun. What would be the ultimate prize at that moment?

It’s the knockout stage of Rugby World Cup 2015 and you’ve just had the wind knocked out of you. Why? Because you’ve been given the ultimate prize: tickets to a quarter final match!

Sound surreal? Unbelievable? That’s precisely the way these lucky winners felt.

Surprise & delight
“Really? This can’t be true; I don’t believe this. This must be a joke,” said Julia and Corentin, who travelled from France to enjoy the game-day atmosphere in the Fan Zone near Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on October 15 – even painting their faces with French flags in a display of national pride.

“I’m completely blown away; I am literally shaking with excitement”

DHL wanted to give some of Rugby’s ultimate fans an ultimate prize – fans who, despite not having tickets to the game, travelled to London or Cardiff to be share the moment with other rugby fans, to soak up the atmosphere and cheer on their favorite teams. At our van in the Fan Zone, we chatted with these rugby fanatics, told them about our Scrum Share Win contest, and asked them straight up: why did you come out today?

We heard some great stories.

Rachel Dixon’s story takes the cake. She came over from New Zealand with her entire family, then chose to give her niece a special gift: her ticket to the New Zealand vs. France quarter final match. That’s why she came out to the Fan Zone. “I thought I was going to watch [the game] in the Fan Zone alone,” she said. We had other plans for her. “You have no idea how much this means to me,” she added.

Neville and Rae became two equally lucky Kiwis. “I can’t tell you how much this means to us, you’ve made our trip.”

Dafyd brought his family over to London from Wales to for a fun day of rugby festivities at the Fan Zone in Richmond. They were knocked out by the news. “I’m completely blown away, I am literally shaking with excitement.”

On to the semi finals
DHL will be in the Fan Zones in Richmond this weekend for all the semi final action. We just might be looking for more ultimate fans, so drop by and tell us your story!
