Chinese Grand Prix
Welcome to the F1® Logistics Hub
Race behind the race
Immediately following the season opener in Australia, Formula 1 will head to China for the first Asian stop of the 2026 campaign. After returning in 2024 following a four-year absence due to the pandemic, the race at the Shanghai International Circuit has re-established itself as a key event on the calendar.
This year's race marks the 20th running of the Chinese Grand Prix, which first appeared on the Formula 1 calendar in 2004. The Shanghai circuit is famous for its layout, which is inspired by the Chinese character “上” (shàng), which symbolizes "above" or "ascend." With one of the longest straights in Formula 1 and a series of long, tightening corners, it is a demanding circuit for drivers and engineers alike.
After the checkered flag falls in Shanghai, teams and drivers will stay in Asia for the next round of the championship in Japan. Grouping these events within the same region improves calendar efficiency, reduces logistical distances, and supports Formula 1’s broader sustainability goals.
