FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAND PRIX DE MONACO 2025
Ferrari’s mechanics do their best to secure a win with the DHL Fastest Pit Stop
So far this season, Ferrari have been almost unbeatable in the battle to set the DHL Fastest Pit Stop time while having more of a tough time out on track this year. In Monaco, though, Charles Leclerc came close to turning the tide with a victory, but it was not to be despite another brilliant performance from his pit crew.
The race was most probably lost on Saturday when Leclerc was beaten by Lando Norris by a tenth of a second in the battle for pole. Still, he did his absolute best in the battle against the two McLarens in the race itself and his mechanics did their bit.
On lap 20, McLaren tried to snatch second place from Leclerc with early stops and an undercut by Oscar Piastri, but Ferrari’s mechanics were having none of it! Leclerc made his first stop on lap 22 and was on his way again after just 2.00 seconds, which enabled his crew to secure their seventh DHL Fastest Pit Stop of the season while also setting the best result of their season to date.
Leclerc and Ferrari tried to put Norris under pressure later in the race with his second pit stop. At 2.19 seconds, this tire change on lap 49 was quite quick, but Norris had built up a big enough cushion out on track, so Leclerc had to settle for second place.
Ferrari rounded off their perfect pit-lane performance with a 2.08-second tire change for Lewis Hamilton. The Scuderia have executed the two fastest pit stops in a race for the third time now and appear to be in an almost unassailable position with a 143-point lead in the overall standings of the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award.
