Scoring a Formula 1® victory is all about speed; but is the winner always the fastest? Redefining our standards of speed, the DHL Fastest Lap Award is one for fierce competitors. This is how it works: one driver sets the fastest lap at each race - the award will go to the man who sets the most over the season.

DHL Fastest Lap as consolation in problematic race for Lando Norris

After a race lasting 53 laps at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Max Verstappen celebrated his third triumph of the 2025 season ahead of the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, and the 66th victory of his F1 career.

Immediately after the start, a duel ensued between Verstappen and current world championship runner-up Lando Norris going into the first chicane. Verstappen cut the chicane while defending his position and then had to relinquish the lead to Norris on the instructions of his team.

On lap 4, Verstappen regained the lead from Norris and subsequently pulled away from the two pursuing McLarens. At the finish line, Verstappen was 19.2 seconds ahead of Norris in second place. As a small consolation, Norris snatched the DHL Fastest Lap away from Verstappen on the 53rd and final lap of the race. His time of 1:20.901 minutes was 0.102 seconds faster than that set by the four-time champion.
