DHL Fastest Lap Award: FORMULA 1 2015 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO
Rosberg controlled the grand prix from the start, pulling out a small lead on teammate Lewis Hamilton. When the safety car came out on Lap 46 shortly after the German’s second pit stop, the field bunched up together again, and Hamilton got the chance to attack Rosberg. And so, the two Silver Arrows had an exciting battle over the last few laps, posting fastest laps in quick succession. Both of them set their personal best times on Lap 67, four laps before the end. Rosberg posted a 1:20.521, going two tenths faster than Hamilton.
“That was the best podium of my life! Thousands and thousands of people singing your name after winning on a great track... it’s unbelievable! In that moment you feel like a rock star on stage and I enjoyed every second,” said Nico. “It was a perfect weekend for me. I had a good qualifying and was able to control the race from the front, responding each time Lewis came closer. I’m happy I was able to control the race.”
With his second fastest lap in a row, Rosberg is picking up momentum again in this final sprint to the end of the season. Since he has now set five fastest laps, he is only one down on teammate Lewis Hamilton, who has posted six fastest laps and leads the 2015 DHL Fastest Lap Award with two races to go before the end of the season.
The teams had only a couple of days to ship the cargo from the US to Mexico during the brief interlude between the two races in Austin and Mexico City. They now have a little more time in hand until the next race, the 2015 FORMULA 1 GRANDE PREMIO PETROBRAS DO BRASIL, which takes place from 13th-15th November in the Autodromo José Carlos Pace.
Our video shows what faced the teams' logistics technicians on the journey from Austin to Mexico City. Once again: "The Great is in the Detail!"
As with all the races, you can play the DHL Fastest Lap Game on Facebook and pick the driver who will set the fastest lap. Why not sign in now and join in!
