Triumphant FC Bayern Munich raise Bundesliga trophy
Although they had secured the Bundesliga title a few weeks previously, the final match of the Bundesliga over the weekend meant FC Bayern Munich could finally celebrate their third league title in a row and their 25th German championship overall.
After winning their final match 2-0 against Mainz in Munich’s Allianz Arena, Bayern were presented with the Bundesliga trophy by the league president, Reinhard Rauball. Captain Philipp Lahm raised the trophy above his head, and the celebrations commenced.
“It’s still very special indeed when you’re top of the pile after 34 matches,” Lahm said. “It can never be taken for granted. A lot of work goes into it. The team deserves it.”

The match and the title were particularly special for long-time Bayern player Bastian Schweinsteiger, who played in his 500th match with the club and scored the second goal against Mainz.
The party continued the day after the match against Mainz with the official public celebration, held on the balcony of Munich’s Town Hall. Around 20,000 fans joined the festivities, along with the FC Bayern Munich women’s team, which had also won the Bundesliga title – the first “mixed double” in German football history, to use the words of Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“Lots of clubs say they have the best fans, but let me tell you this: we have the best fans,” Rummenigge told the jubilant crowd.
Early vacation
The festive celebration came a little earlier than many had hoped in Munich: semifinal losses to Barcelona in the Champions League and Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup meant FC Bayern Munich would not be travelling to Berlin on consecutive weekends to contest the final matches in those competitions.
A string of injuries to key players in the second half of the season proved to be a burden in Bayern’s quest to pursue titles in all three competitions. Nonetheless, as we reflect on DHL’s first season as an FC Bayern Munich partner, we can’t help but grin from ear to ear at some of the great moments we were lucky enough to take part in.
After announcing our partnership the day before the very first match of the Bundesliga season, we took to the road in the Champions League a few weeks later. It was our road trip to Rome, with all of FC Bayern’s equipment for an away match in the Champions League in tow.
Our next trip with the team was ever more exciting: we brought all the team’s equipment for a week-long training camp to Qatar, where the players worked hard to get back in form after the winter break. In addition, we got some behind-the-scenes glimpses at all the work that goes into prepping for the second half of the season. We even managed to have a word with Manuel Neuer!
Next stop: China
The players and coaches at FC Bayern will be enjoying a well-deserved break after working hard all season long, but even with the start of the season far down the road in August, there is still plenty of FC Bayern Munich action to be excited about over the summer.
In July, we’ll join the team on their summer tour of China, a chance for fans there to see the Bundesliga champions up close. Connecting FC Bayern Munich and the club’s Chinese fans is actually a big part of our role as Official eCommerce Partner – stay tuned for a big announcement on that later this week!
DHL would like to congratulate FC Bayern Munich on their third consecutive Bundesliga title! After seeing how much fun it is to be partnered with Germany’s most successful club, we can’t wait for the summer tour and next season so the journey can continue!
