FC Bayern Munich get the ball rolling in 2015 from Doha training camp

After a well-deserved break, FC Bayern Munich’s winter training camp is taking place in Doha, Qatar. The players are surely happy to trade in the cold Munich winter for the warmer climes of the Persian Gulf, but this is far from a sun-soaked holiday.

FC Bayern Munich made it look easy in the first half of the 2014/2015 season: they conceded just four goals in the Bundesliga, earning them a very comfortable spot at the top of the table, and finished at the top of their group in the Champions League.

But the truth is, success like that takes a lot of work, which is why Pep Guardiola’s men didn’t waste any time in getting back to training after the New Year.

At the team’s winter training camp presented by Volkswagen in Doha, practice sessions take place twice a day on most days, and friendly matches with teams from the area are also on the agenda. It’s a chance for players to sharpen their skills after the winter break, and for some players – such as Holger Badstuber – it’s their first opportunity to lace up their boots again after sitting out with injury.

Gearing up for camp

As Bayern’s international logistics and eCommerce full-service partner, DHL played a key role in shipping everything the team would need for the eight-day training camp from Munich to Doha.

That includes over 300 kilograms of equipment for Bayern’s medical team and 133 kilograms of fitness training equipment – everything so the coaches, players, and physical therapists feel right at home.

We’ve only been on the ground a few days with the team, but we are happy to report that the players look like they’ve hardly missed a beat since they last played back in December!

Throughout the week, we’ll be giving you exclusive behind-the-scenes videos showing everything that goes into getting the team ready to face the second half of the season. This is backstage access to Germany's top club soccer team, so keep an eye on InMotion for more stories from Doha, and be sure to follow DHL on Facebook and the Deutsche Post DHL twitter account for live updates from the camp!
