FC Bayern Munich host Roma for Champions League second leg

Two weeks after the unforgettable 7-1 victory against AS Roma in the Champions League group stage, Bayern Munich are playing host to the Italian side.

It was a night for the ages two weeks ago at the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian capital: Bayern Munich made quick work of AS Roma in a lopsided 7-1 affair, further cementing their position atop Group E in Europe's top-flight competition.

The match stands out for another reason as well: it marked DHL's first Champions League delivery for Germany's most successful soccer club. The delivery of all the team's needs for the trip to Rome – from water bottles to staple food items – was absolutely critical.

"A lot happens behind the team and everything that goes with it," said Robert Ostermeier, Managing Director of FC Bayern Tours. "There's a large logistical effort to make sure that everything is on site when the team arrives so practice can begin immediately and the team can concentrate on getting ready for the game."

The players certainly looked well prepared when they took to the pitch in Rome. Arjen Robben, Mario Götze, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller, Franck Ribery, and Xherdan Shaqiri all scored in the match. Robben even got on the board twice in what would be Bayern's highest-ever road victory in the Champions League.

On Wednesday in Munich, Bayern have a chance to lock up the top spot in the group, assuring they would advance to the next stage of the Champions League. A win would put them on 12 points, out of reach of the rest of the teams with just two group matches remaining. No matter what the result, DHL will be back in action with the team for their away match against Manchester City on November 25.

DHL is the official international partner for logistics and e-commerce of FC Bayern Munich, Germany's most successful soccer club. Stay tuned to DHL InMotion for more insights on very special deliveries as Bayern seek their next Champions League trophy!
