DHL Exported Milan Winner: Nicholas K
New York-based clothing label Nicholas K was announced last month as the winner of the inaugural DHL Exported competition aimed at helping established designers expand into a new market. For Nicholas K, that market is Milan, where they will be showing their Spring/Summer 2015 collection in September thanks to the win.
The decade-old label, already receiving accolades in the US, has been a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America since 2009 and shown at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York since 2011. Their luxurious sportswear with an urban edge has been featured in magazines like Elle, Vogue, Esquire, Lucky and i-D and worn in the blockbuster movie, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”
Often described as clothing for the “urban nomad,” the brother-sister team behind the label emphasizes that the brand is an expression of the desire for new experiences and travel. They design with a luxurious aestheticism and innovative features that make their parkas, anoraks, knits, dresses and denim uniquely durable and functional without losing their elegance.
The label is a perfect fit for the luxury goods market in Milan, which judge Jane Reeve said, “has always been well known for its quality.”
Congratulations to Nicholas K. Looking forward to seeing the collection in Milan next season!
