A Cellist's Solo from the Gewandhausorchester

Composer Richard Strauss would've been 150 years old this year so to honor his life's work, the Gewandhausorchester will be performing from his oeuvre in Leipzig throughout the summer.

With a livestream planned from the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig on June 6, Strauss fans from around the world can be part of the audience. Shown here live on In Motion, the concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Central European Time and will also be accessible afterwards.

Under the conduction of Gewandhauskapellmeister Riccardo Chailly, the bill features Vincent Aucante on viola and Juernjakob Timm on cello. The performance includes Don Quixote – Fantastic Variations on a Theme of Knightly Character, op. 35, Death and Transfiguration (Tod und Verklärung) - Tone Poem for Large Orchestra, op. 24, as well as Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche (Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks), op. 28.
