Formula E
Countdown begins to world’s first fully electric race series
At this time next year, the new FIA Formula E Championship will no longer be a novelty – the 10 teams will be competing in their fifth competition on the downtown streets of beautiful Buenos Aires.
Famous for its tango, football and black coffee, Buenos Aires is both Argentina’s capital and largest city. Located on the east coast of South America, the city has a strikingly European feel, which has earned it the nickname ‘the Paris of South America.’
On January 10, 2015, the downtown streets of this vibrant metropolis will be electrified – and it won’t be from the streetlights. A pack of 20 Spark-Renault 20 SRT_01E fully electric race cars will dazzle thousands of speed-loving motorsports fans. Exactly a year from now Round 5 of the sport’s inaugural 10-race 2014/15 season, which begins on September 13 in Beijing, China. Unlike most other motorsports events, this series will be contested entirely on the streets of some of the world’s most prized cities, including Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Berlin – bringing this pioneering green race series and its innovative vision for the future of e-mobility face to face with the world’s growing urban population.
