FORMULA 1 LENOVO GRAND PRIX DU CANADA 2026

Second consecutive DHL Fastest Pit Stop bags more points for Racing Bulls

Montreal hosted the third Sprint event of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Both races of the weekend took place in relatively cool temperatures and were dominated by the internal Mercedes duel. However, the Racing Bulls also had something to prove after a non-scoring Miami GP. Arvid Lindblad outshone his team-mate over the first part of the weekend, claiming a point in Saturday's sprint.

In the race itself, however, Liam Lawson was the sole representative of Racing Bull, as Lindblad was unable to engage any of the gears after the formation lap and had to be pushed back to the pits from the starting grid. From 12th place, Lawson quickly moved up into the Top Ten, thanks in part to McLaren's unwise tire choice. He then defended eighth place until George Russell's retirement on lap 30 triggered a virtual safety car.

Like almost the entire field, Lawson came in for a pit stop, and his team fitted him with new soft tires in record time. The New Zealander spent just 2.20 seconds in the pits. This earned the Racing Bulls crew their second consecutive DHL Fastest Pit Stop.

On the last few laps, Lawson had to ward off a challenge from Pierre Gasly. In the final corner, both drivers went wide, but there was no contact and no penalty. His P7 finish earned him six championship points. "It was very close, a hard fight," said Lawson of the Alpine. "They had great race pace. We didn't really have that much speed in the car, but we survived. I'm happy to come home with seventh."
