Lewis Hamilton Steals the Night Away in Singapore
Against a yellow-and-red DHL backdrop and under the floodlit streets of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton raced his 2nd consecutive DHL Fastest Lap to take his 2nd consecutive checkered flag.

The Silver Arrow are now tied at 5 apiece!

“My tip for the DHL Fastest Lap in Singapore is Nico Rosberg because he’s the man now who has to defend his advantage over teammate Lewis Hamilton”, said Danner after the Italian Grand Prix just two weeks ago. He may have been right if Rosberg hadn’t been forced to retire early in Lap 13. After all, the German qualified P2 and the two Silver Arrows are dominating the Drivers’ Championship, which Hamilton now leads by a razor-thin three points.
In the end, Hamilton, at the helm of a dominant racecar, “on something like a cruise,” as Danner puts it, set the DHL Fastest Lap in Lap 39 on his way to victory in Singapore.
"You know, once you have a car that is a little bit quicker than the rest of the field, you just have to make sure you’re not going to lose the race." (Christian Danner)
“Lewis drove a very quiet but a very controlled race,” says Danner. “It was pretty clear that he was going to win unless he makes a mistake. He didn’t.”
Tied at 5 with 5 to go
As a result Lewis Hamilton takes over the top of the drivers’ table, three points ahead of Nico Rosberg. In the Constructors’ Championship, Mercedes and Red Bull lead the way in first and second place, while Williams stays on P3, nine points ahead of Ferrari.
In the race for the DHL Fastest Lap Award we have a thrilling 5-to-5 draw between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg and still five races to go!
Red Bull Return?
Although a gapping 13.5-second hole separated Hamilton from his old rival Sebastian Vettel at the finish, Team Red Bull Racing took P2 and P3 in Singapore and look ready to charge at the leaders. With double points at stake at the final race in Abu Dhabi this year, the Bulls just might give the Arrows a run for their money. We’ll just have to wait and see.
