DHL Fastest Lap Award: 2016 FORMULA 1 GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

The second race of the 2016 season, the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, provided plenty of excitement under floodlight. Nico Rosberg went straight into the lead after a good start, winning the race after 57 laps. The Mercedes AMG PETRONAS driver also secured the fastest lap.

This was the first success in the desert state for the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS driver. The German crowned his perfect performance on Lap 41 with the fastest lap of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. He posted a 1:34.482, the fastest time of the race, with an average speed of 206.210 km/h. His team-mate Lewis Hamilton booked the second-fastest lap. The British driver was 0.195 seconds slower on Lap 43.

"Wow, what a weekend", said Nico Rosberg. "The start was definitely the key to my win - and that was a really great moment, as it was an area that we put a lot effort into before the race. Leading into Turn One was a relief, to be honest, as I could see in my mirrors that it was very busy behind me. But from then on I was able to control the pace and take the win. What a great start to the season - a big thank you to the guys and girls at the factories for this amazing car!"

Nico Rosberg is now the leader of the 2016 DHL Fastest Lap Award 2016 after the second race. The 22 drivers will get their next chance to score a point in this classification in the 2016 Formula 1 Pirelli Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit (15th-17th April).

This means for teams that they have to move their cargo from Sakhir to Shanghai. While the cars are freighted by air, other tackle needed has long since been sent on its way by sea to China. You see, each team has several sets of garage equipment that are used in rotation for races overseas and are shipped by sea.
