Backstage with Kym Ellery in Paris
Ever wondered what it's like behind the scenes at a runway show?
While the average model spends less than 90 seconds out on the catwalk, there's a well-oiled machine working hard backstage to ensure that a designer's dreams for the presentation of his or her collection are exceeded. From the team of hair stylists and make-up artists to the seamstresses working doubletime to handsew those glittering details to the dresses before they're in the spotlight, there's a delicate choreography taking place behind the scenes.
As Official Logistics Partner to over 30 Fashion Week events in 15 cities worldwide, DHL has been privvy to all the action backstage at a number of designer events. And as proud supporter of emerging designers as they get a leg up in the fashion world, DHL was especially excited to be allowed backstage in Paris at the Kym Ellery debut back in September. Just the third Australian designer to be invited by the Fédération Français de la Couture du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode to show as part of Paris Fashion Week in the last 20 years, Ellery has definitely hit the big time.
Still, she and her team kept their cool as they took DHL behind the scenes at their show in the surrounds of the discreet Hotel D’Evreux at the chic Place Vendome last September.
