DHL has been sponsoring surf lifesavers on New Zealand beaches for ten years now. The milestone is being celebrated with a public photography exhibition in Auckland, New Zealand.

Surf lifesavers play a vital role on New Zealand beaches, helping to keep swimmers away from danger and coming to their rescue when necessary. Since late 2003, DHL has been sponsoring Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ).

“We’re so proud to be celebrating ten years of supporting Surf Life Saving, which provides such a valuable service to our community.”

This decade of cooperation is now being marked with a free photography exhibition in Auckland, featuring photos of surf lifesavers in their iconic DHL-branded uniforms. Renowned photographer Chris Sisarich traveled all over New Zealand in January to capture images of Surf Life Saving volunteers, including singer-songwriter Jamie McDell and world record-holding surf lifesaver Laura Quilter.

“We’re so proud to be celebrating ten years of supporting Surf Life Saving, which provides such a valuable service to our community,” says DHL Express New Zealand Country Manager Tim Baxter. “The Surf Life Saving uniform has been sponsored by DHL since its inception in 2003. It has become an icon of the New Zealand summer, and as such we thought it was appropriate to celebrate the uniform, as well as of course the wonderful volunteers who patrol our beaches and keep us safe during the summer period.”

The exhibition will run from February 14 to 16 at Te Wero Island in Wynyard Quarter, Auckland.

DHL also sponsors Surf Life Saving Australia and 2013 marked ten years of a very successful partnership there. This milestone was similarly celebrated, with a pop-up photo exhibition set up in Sydney in December. Read more about that here.
