DHL Joins World’s Best in Las Vegas at 2014 USA SEVENS RUGBY

The pools have been drawn and the stage is set for what is fast becoming one of the most exciting sporting events in the United States: the USA Sevens International Rugby Tournament in Las Vegas. For three days starting tomorrow (January 24-26), fans are in for some hard-hitting, cheer-inducing action as the world’s best – 16 nations in all – battle for points in the HSBC Sevens World Series title.

You could say that rugby is in our blood. After scoring try after try on the logistics pitch at the Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand, we’ll take the field again in London in 2015 as Official Logistics Partner on Rugby’s biggest global stage. And we are trying to help the sport grow around the world through other sponsorships like the DHL Stormers in South Africa, the Harlequins F. C. in England and the British & Irish Lions tour.

DHL is once again a proud sponsor of this increasingly popular event and exclusive sponsor of the US Rugby team.

Our partnership with USA Sevens and the US Rugby team is another exciting feature in our global Rugby partnership portfolio. It means endorsing a sport that our employees and customers around the world love and great exposure for the DHL brand.

This will be our fourth year with the U.S.A. Sevens team and we are extremely excited to once again see the DHL logo across the front of their jerseys.

USA Sevens is the fourth round of the HSBC Seven World Series – an annual elite-level competition of top national rugby players. National teams compete for the title by accumulating points based on their finishing position in each of the nine series tournaments.

Considered by some to have the wildest fans in all of sports, the USA Sevens tournament has continued to see a massive increase in attendance over the past several years, and by all accounts the fans are really embracing the event.

Also known as seven-a-side, rugby sevens is set to enter the world’s grandest sports stage as a new Olympic event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
