Red Bull Air Race returns to Croatia
The Red Bull Air Race World Championship has had to slightly adapt the racing calendar for the current season. The third event of the year will take place on the 30th/31st May in the Croatian town of Rovinj. The Russian city of Sochi, famed for the Olympics, was originally meant to host the racing series, but insurmountable organisational and financial pressures have now forced the cancellation of the Russian race. Rovinj was last year’s host, putting on a spectacular race, and now returns unexpectedly to the racing calendar.
“We would love to have brought the Red Bull Air Race to Russia, but the current situation on the international financial markets makes it impossible for our partners in Russia to offer our fans a high quality infrastructure while keeping ticket prices at an affordable level,” said Erich Wolf, general manager of the Red Bull Air Race.
The race schedule of the 2015 Red Bull Air Race World Championship features eight races. The opener in Abu Dhabi has already been staged, so there are seven events on three continents remaining on the program between now and the end of the season. As the Official Logistics Partner of this elite aviation championship series, DHL will deliver Red Bull Air Race to all of these venues.
