VIDEO: DHL Delivers MotoGP around the globe
A historic year has come to an end. After many twists and turns, Marc Marquez won his third MotoGP™ crown in four years to become the youngest rider ever with World Championships.

massive logistics operation behind MotoGP
For DHL, the action behind the scenes was as intense as the racing action itself. The massive MotoGP logistics operation requires precision performance that rivals the tightest turns you see on the track, says DHL’s Patrick Thierling, who manages MotoGP’s logistics.
“It’s like a game of Tetris,” says DHL’s Patrick Thierling. “We move around 900 crates with different shapes and sizes.”
After the race is before the race, and every hour counts.

The stakes are high in the logistics race. Obviously if DHL doesn’t deliver off the track, there won’t be anything to watch on the track come race weekend.
“We deliver it all: motorbikes and engines, tools, spare parts, and of course the riders’ stuff – the suits, gloves and helmets.”
It’s a game of precision that DHL relishes.
“After the race is before the race, and every hour counts. Without a perfectly and coordinated team, it wouldn’t be possible to manage this kind of job.”
Four 747 aircraft and around 45 trucks are constantly moving between airports and circuits all over the world.

Though the 2016 season has just ended, MotoGP is already looking ahead to 2017. The first 2017 testing in Valencia at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo has just completed.
DHL’s 2017 preparations are also in high gear and we’re looking forward to delivering the premier class of motorcycle road racing to the world once again.
