DHL gets behind the handlebars with MotoGP
It’s logistics on two wheels! DHL is very proud to announce a new partnership with MotoGP™, the legendary and historic motorcycle racing world championship series.
Formula 1, Formula E, Red Bull Air Race… DHL is no stranger to high-octane partnerships. In fact, we’ve been in the business for over 30 years. But it’s not every day you get to partner with the oldest motorsports world championship – and we couldn’t be more excited!
MotoGP™ is the premier motorcycle racing world championship with a history dating back to 1949. Over the past 66 years, the racing series has been to every corner of the globe and has established an incredibly passionate global fan base, which includes live TV audiences in 207 countries.
The draw of MotoGP™ is unmistakable. The riders are the best in the world, and the bikes feature cutting-edge motorcycle technology with prototype machinery. With speeds in excess of 340 km/h during a race, it’s no surprise that these motorcycles aren’t street legal and can’t even be purchased by the public!
For DHL, the new three-year partnership represents an exciting addition to what is already a very prestigious list of motorsports partners. Each season, MotoGP™ covers around 90,000 km in just nine months – requiring perfect logistical execution to make sure “the race before the race” runs seamlessly and on time. DHL will also support the logistics needs of the categories, Moto2™ and Moto3™.
“This new partnership with MotoGP™ further showcases that DHL is the provider of choice to the motorsports and automotive sectors,” said Ken Allen, CEO, DHL Express.
The current MotoGP™ season has just reached the half-way point, and Italy’s Valentino Rossi is maintaining a 13-point lead over Jorge Lorenzo from Spain. When the series resumes in August, the calendar features races in the US, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. The season wraps up with the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana on November 8 in Spain.
Pau Serracanta is the Managing Director of the Commercial Area at Dorna, the company that organizes MotoGP™ races. He says partnering with DHL allows his organization to “maintain our values of speed and efficiency on which the championship has been built.” We take sentiment to heart, and we can’t wait for the first MotoGP™ Grand Prix of the second half of the season at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 9!
Don’t miss any MotoGP™ action when the season resumes in August! We’ll have all the latest on MotoGP™ - and the rest of DHL’s motorsports partners – right here on InMotion.
