ChildFund Pass It Back

ChildFund Pass It Back is an innovative program led by ChildFund in partnership with World Rugby, Asia Rugby and Women Win. Based on utilizing sport for development, it delivers an integrated life skills and rugby curriculum for children and young people in disadvantaged communities across Asia. The program uses tag rugby to teach children and young people a range of valuable life skills, which equips them to overcome challenges, inspire positive social change and ‘pass it back’ to their communities.

The program is running in Laos, Vietnam and the Philippines. With global recognition as a best practice sport for development program, ChildFund Pass it Back hopes to expand the program across Asia and beyond, so that more young people can benefit.

Why children in asia?

With over 1.8 billion people between the ages of 10 and 24, Asia is home to 60% of the world’s youth. Many lack the opportunities, knowledge and skills to succeed in a rapidly changing region.

ChildFund Pass It Back is committed to building a new generation of leaders across Asia.

Rugby’s global values of integrity, respect, solidarity, passion and discipline provide a strong anchor for life skills learning. Furthermore, rugby is not well-known and is not gendered in many countries across Asia, which provides more opportunities for girls and young women to become players or coaches. Over half of all participants in ChildFund Pass It Back are female.

ChildFund Pass It Back is a key component of World Rugby’s Impact Beyond 2019 program. World Rugby and ChildFund have been working in partnership to deliver the program and make it a success. Both organizations want to ensure that Rugby World Cup 2019 leaves a lasting legacy in Asia – one that helps to promote and develop the game of rugby in the region and build stronger communities.
